AWS Reportedly Plans to Adopt Qualcomm AI200 Chips to Cut AI Inference Costs

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-13 · Last active 2026-06-13

AWS is one of the world’s leading cloud service providers, and the cost of chips, memory and electricity for AI inference directly affects its cloud margins. Wells Fargo said adopting Qualcomm’s high-memory AI200, designed for deploying large language models, could improve AWS’s inference efficiency and lower operating costs. The move would also mark a further challenge by Qualcomm to established AI chip suppliers.

Wells Fargo’s latest report said AWS could become the first major ASIC partner for Qualcomm’s AI200, prompting the bank to raise its price target for Qualcomm. The reports did not disclose the revised target or a formal partnership date. Broader deployment of the AI200 is expected to begin in 2026, but neither AWS nor Qualcomm has announced order volumes, contract value or a launch timetable.
