The Kaohsiung zone of Taiwan’s Asian Asset Management Center, established by the Financial Supervisory Commission and the Kaohsiung City Government, was inaugurated on July 22, 2025. It allows banks, securities firms, asset managers, investment advisers and insurers to pilot cross-border wealth management, family-office and high-end insurance services. The zone is testing regulatory easing, anti-money-laundering controls and risk-management mechanisms as Taiwan seeks to attract domestic and overseas capital and compete with Hong Kong and Singapore in asset management.

FSC Chairman Thomas J. L. Huang led an inspection of Taipei Fubon Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, First Securities Investment Trust and Nan Shan Life on May 18, 2026. The FSC said outstanding bank loans totaled NT$41.7 billion as of the end of March, while family-office assets under management reached NT$80.2 billion. By the end of April, 57 institutions had entered the zone. The delegation also gathered recommendations on the pilot programs, dedicated legislation and a nationwide rollout. A results presentation is scheduled in Kaohsiung at the end of July.
