Qualcomm Bets on AI Agents and 40 Wearable Devices

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon believes generative AI is shifting human-computer interaction away from opening apps individually and toward AI agents that understand context and proactively perform tasks. The transition will be crucial to Qualcomm’s ability to expand its edge AI chip footprint beyond smartphones and computers into wearable devices used around the clock.

Qualcomm recently said it is working with partners to develop more than 40 new AI devices, including smart jewelry, earbuds and pins. The products are designed to offer on-the-go sensing, continuous connectivity and real-time responses. The company has not disclosed launch dates, partner brands, prices or total investment, leaving the commercialization timeline unclear.
