Anthropic’s Taiwan Bypass Highlights Risk of Marginalization in AI Adoption

Anthropic, the developer of Claude, has opened offices in India, Japan, South Korea and Australia since 2025 and is establishing a presence in Singapore, but Taiwan is not on the list. Although Taiwan sits at the heart of the global AI hardware supply chain, its smaller population, SME-dominated economy and emphasis on hardware over software weaken the commercial incentive for international model providers to invest in local consulting and technical support. That could also widen the gap in generative AI adoption.

A June 20, 2026, report said Anthropic had recently expanded Project Glasswing, its cybersecurity collaboration program, granting access to the vulnerability-hunting Mythos model to more than 150 institutions across over 15 countries, including the UK, EU member states, Japan, South Korea and Canada. Taiwan remains excluded. South Korean participants include the Ministry of Science and ICT, KISA, Samsung, SK hynix and SK Telecom. The amount invested was not disclosed.
