Fubon Insurance Combines Digital-Asset Liability and Crime Cover to Bolster MaiCoin Protection
Virtual asset service providers face not only routine operational risks but also risks involving hot and cold wallets, private-key management, system errors, theft by hackers and internal fraud. Modern Wealth Technology, part of the MaiCoin Group, serves more than 1.3 million users. As Taiwan tightens oversight of VASPs, insurance can provide financial protection beyond cybersecurity and internal controls, helping safeguard customer assets and market confidence.
On May 26, 2026, Fubon Insurance announced that it had underwritten digital-asset professional liability and crime insurance for Modern Wealth Technology, with Lockton assisting in structuring the coverage. The company became Taiwan’s first VASP to adopt this dual-track protection. The policy covers third-party claims and losses involving proprietary or custodied assets caused by employee fraud, theft by hackers or physical theft. Neither the coverage limit nor the premium was disclosed.
