ByteDance Launches Doubao Work Agent for Enterprise Tasks

Enterprise AI agents are emerging as a new battleground for China’s largest technology companies. Unlike chatbots that mainly generate text, workplace agents are designed to understand corporate context, break down assignments and execute tasks across communications, documents and management systems. ByteDance’s entry puts it into direct competition with Tencent, Alibaba and Baidu as the industry shifts its focus from model parameters toward access to business data and the ability to complete real workflows.

ByteDance’s Doubao has formally introduced Doubao Work, an enterprise workplace agent deeply integrated with collaboration platform Feishu. The product can independently divide assignments into steps, operate across different software tools and advance workflows with limited human intervention. The announcement establishes ByteDance as a fourth major contender in China’s office-agent market. The report did not specify a launch date, pricing, investment amount or customer count, leaving adoption and commercial traction as the next key measures.
