Microsoft Develops OpenClaw-Like AI Agent for Windows Copilot

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-17 · Last active 2026-04-17

OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent capable of operating autonomously for extended periods, but it is designed primarily for Linux and macOS. Windows users often need to configure WSL2, Docker and Nix. With Copilot’s roughly 15 million paying users representing just 3% of Office 365 users, Microsoft urgently needs to turn its chat assistant into an agentic AI system capable of operating Microsoft 365.

Reports on April 17, 2026, said Microsoft Global Senior Vice President Omar Shahine was assembling an elite team to work with the 365 Copilot group led by Charles Lamanna on a plan provisionally named “MS-Claw.” The system could handle Outlook email, calendars and Excel data around the clock. Microsoft has not disclosed the development budget or a launch date, and aims to accelerate its efforts to catch up with Anthropic.
