Musk Says xAI and Tesla Are Jointly Advancing Macrohard to Build a Super AI Brain
Macrohard is an AI agent initiative led by xAI whose name plays on Microsoft. It aims to use Grok models to process real-time information flows, assign tasks and simulate the operations of a software company. By combining the initiative with Tesla’s computing and robotics hardware, Musk is bringing together models, computing power and physical AI capabilities to challenge established enterprise software providers.
As of July 19, 2026, Musk had rejected reports that xAI had abandoned Macrohard and confirmed that the project had been merged with Tesla’s Digital Optimus. The two companies are now jointly developing a “super AI brain” that will combine Grok’s decision-making capabilities with Tesla’s hardware resources. No investment amount, formal launch date or performance data have been announced.
