Foundry to Launch Institutional-Grade Zcash Mining Pool Focused on Compliance Infrastructure

4 reports · First detected 2026-03-11 · Last active 2026-04-14

Zcash launched in 2016, using zero-knowledge proofs to support private transactions while retaining an optional disclosure mechanism. Foundry Digital, a Digital Currency Group company, previously operated one of the world’s largest Bitcoin mining pools. Its expansion into Zcash signals that regulated institutions are beginning to view privacy coins as deployable assets and could improve a hashrate structure long dominated by a small number of mining pools.

Foundry announced the plan on March 11, 2026, and formally launched its U.S.-based Zcash mining pool and the Zcashinfo.com block explorer on April 13. Data on April 14 showed that the pool had captured 29.2% of the network’s hashrate and mined 2,344 blocks. Over the same period, ViaBTC’s share fell to 37% from 68.1% on February 27. The reward per block was 1.25 ZEC, worth about $458 at the time.
