Abu Dhabi Royal Takes 49% Stake in Trump-Linked Crypto Bank Venture

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-28 · Last active 2026-08-28

World Liberty is a crypto-finance platform closely associated with U.S. President Donald Trump’s family. Its dollar-pegged USD1 stablecoin depends on confidence in the management of issuance, reserves and custody. A proposed U.S. trust bank would oversee the token’s issuance, redemption and safekeeping if regulators approve the application, making the venture’s ownership structure significant for governance, conflict-of-interest scrutiny and foreign influence over American financial infrastructure.

A group controlled by Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Tahnoon has acquired a 49% stake in World Liberty’s holding company, making it the largest shareholder, the Wall Street Journal reported. The investment positions the group as a central backer of the proposed crypto-bank venture. The trust bank still required U.S. regulatory approval at the time of the report, while the transaction value, signing date and planned launch date were not disclosed.
