Taiwan Sets Timeline for Faster Odd-Lot Trading, Market Dashboard
Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission is moving to modernize equity trading as odd-lot activity and demand for high-priced shares expand. The Securities and Futures Bureau’s plan aims to improve execution speed, refine tick sizes for stocks priced above NT$1,000 and make market data easier to access, measures intended to strengthen efficiency and transparency in Taiwan’s capital markets.
Under the timetable, intraday odd-lot trading will open at 9 a.m., while matching intervals will be shortened to one second in July next year. Tick sizes for so-called thousand-dollar stocks will also be adjusted. The Taiwan Stock Exchange and Taipei Exchange plan to launch a “Taiwan Stock Market Dashboard” by the end of September, providing investors with a consolidated view of key market indicators.
