Substack Launches AI Detector for Reader Posts

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-22 · Last active 2026-07-22

Substack, a publishing platform built around newsletters and paid subscriptions, is introducing an authenticity check as generative AI makes it easier to produce large volumes of text. The rise of machine-written posts has complicated readers’ efforts to assess who — or what — created an article, raising broader concerns about transparency, trust and content quality across creator-led publishing platforms.

The company has launched an AI-detection tool powered by Pangram to help readers assess whether articles, Notes and comments may have been generated by artificial intelligence. As of July 22, 2026, the feature is available on Substack’s Web and iOS services. An Android release has not yet arrived, though Substack said support for the operating system is expected soon.
