US Banks’ Paris Offices Put on Alert Over Terror Threats
France heightened security around US- and Israeli-linked facilities after the United States and Israel went to war with Iran on February 28, 2026. Wall Street banks including Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and Citigroup symbolize US economic interests and handle cross-border funds and sensitive data, leaving physical attacks and cybersecurity threats capable of disrupting both employee safety and financial operations.
On March 28, Paris police intercepted an improvised explosive device containing 650 grams of explosives outside Bank of America’s office. Four suspects aged 16 to 21 were charged and detained on April 1. On April 2, Goldman Sachs allowed its Paris employees to work remotely, while Citigroup told staff in Paris and Frankfurt to work from home. Police also stepped up security and investigated whether the pro-Iranian group HAYI was involved.
