Ryft Raises £20 Million to Expand Across Europe and US

2 reports · First detected 2026-09-17 · Last active 2026-09-17

Founded in Manchester in 2021 by Sadra Hosseini, Alex Mackenzie and Richard Kirby, Ryft provides payment infrastructure for marketplaces, software platforms and multi-location businesses. Its single integration handles merchant onboarding and complex flows such as recurring billing, automated split payments and cross-border payouts. The model addresses a technically difficult, heavily regulated part of commerce long dominated by a small group of incumbents, making Ryft’s international expansion a test of whether a UK fintech can build a broader payments challenger.

Ryft said on Sept. 17, 2026, that it raised £20 million in a Series B led by Gresham House Ventures, with Pembroke VCT, Ingenii Capital and PXN Ventures participating. The company called it the UK payments sector’s largest Series B of 2026. Ryft said processing volume tripled over the previous 12 months and its system now serves more than 6,500 businesses. The proceeds will fund expansion in Europe and the United States, product development and a push into enterprise customers. It has applied to the Malta Financial Services Authority for a full EU payments licence.
