Meta Adds Agentic Productivity Tools to AI Assistant

Meta is seeking to turn Meta AI from a chatbot that answers questions and generates images into an agent capable of planning and completing work. The push is a step toward what the company calls “personal superintelligence,” an AI system that understands a user’s context and acts on their behalf. The strategy also puts Meta more directly against productivity-focused offerings from Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude.

Meta said on July 24, 2026, that the upgraded assistant is powered by Muse Spark 1.1, a model released earlier in the month. Meta AI can connect to email and calendar apps, prepare daily briefings, flag scheduling conflicts, run recurring tasks and conduct steerable deep research in minutes before generating slides. The features began rolling out that day in select markets through the Meta AI app and meta.ai, with expansion to more countries and surfaces, including WhatsApp, planned in the coming weeks.
