Mirendil Signs $100 Million-Plus Google Cloud Deal for Self-Improving AI

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-07 · Last active 2026-08-07

Mirendil, an AI lab founded by researchers from Anthropic, Google DeepMind and xAI, emerged publicly on June 25, 2026, with a $200 million seed round. The startup is developing systems that can run research experiments, learn from the results and iteratively improve their own capabilities. Its longer-term goal is to automate parts of AI and scientific research, a compute-intensive ambition that makes reliable access to advanced chips strategically important.

Mirendil has signed a multiyear Google Cloud agreement worth more than $100 million, Reuters reported on August 6, 2026. The deal gives the startup access to Google tensor processing units, or TPUs, as well as Nvidia graphics processing units for training and scaling its self-improving AI. Struck roughly six weeks after Mirendil’s public launch, the pact underscores how cloud providers and young AI labs are using large, long-term contracts to secure scarce computing capacity.
