J.P. Morgan and ACI Worldwide Team Up to Combat Real-Time Payment Fraud
Real-time payments generally cannot be reversed once settled, meaning financial institutions that monitor transactions only after the fact often miss the chance to stop fraud. ACI Worldwide’s Scamscope report estimates that authorized push payment, or APP, scams currently cause $4.4 billion in global losses, with 63% occurring on real-time payment rails. The figures underscore the importance of verification before payment.
On April 24, 2026, ACI Worldwide and Kinexys by J.P. Morgan announced plans to integrate Kinexys Liink’s Confirm into ACI’s scam and financial-crime solutions. The service verifies before payment that an account exists, is valid and matches the intended recipient. The network covers more than 70 countries. APP scam losses are estimated to rise to $7.6 billion by 2028, while the share occurring through real-time payments is expected to approach 80% over the next three years.
