Taiwan Firms Lift US Investment to $55 Billion on Chip, AI Push
Taiwanese technology companies are expanding their US footprint as Washington promotes domestic manufacturing and weighs semiconductor tariffs. Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs said the projects span major chip and AI-server suppliers, underscoring how the island’s technology ecosystem is adjusting production networks while advancing a broader Taiwan-US investment framework.
The ministry’s latest tally shows Taiwanese companies plan an additional $20 billion of US investment, bringing the combined total to $55 billion. The commitments focus on semiconductor and AI-server supply chains and exclude Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s separate $265 billion US investment plan, highlighting the scale of spending by other Taiwanese suppliers.
