BNP Paribas Launches Six Bitcoin and Ether ETNs for Retail Investors in France
Exchange-traded notes are debt securities issued by financial institutions that track the price of an underlying asset. They allow investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin and Ether without opening a crypto wallet or safeguarding private keys, although investors remain exposed to cryptocurrency price volatility and issuer credit risk. BNP Paribas’ move to make crypto assets available through traditional securities accounts reflects European banks’ expansion of regulated digital-asset access.
BNP Paribas announced the products on March 26, 2026, and made six ETNs linked to Bitcoin or Ether available in France from March 30. Individual investors, business owners, private-banking clients and Hello bank! users can trade them through standard securities accounts. The bank did not disclose minimum investment amounts or fees, and the offering could later be extended to wealth-management clients outside France.
