Ethereum Foundation, Biconomy Introduce ERC-8211 to Enable Autonomous DeFi Transactions by AI Agents

2 reports · First detected 2026-04-08 · Last active 2026-04-08

ERC-8211 is being advanced jointly by blockchain infrastructure provider Biconomy and the Ethereum Foundation’s “Improve UX” initiative. It is designed to overcome a limitation in ERC-4337 and EIP-5792 batch transactions, which lock in parameters when they are signed. The new format allows later steps to reference on-chain results from earlier ones, reducing the risk that DeFi operations such as swaps and lending will fail because of slippage or balance changes.

The proposal was created on February 11, 2026. Its specification, open-source reference implementation and on-chain demonstration were released on April 6, followed by Biconomy’s formal announcement on April 7. ERC-8211 remains a Standards Track draft. It allows parameters to be injected dynamically and conditions and assertions to be set within a single batch transaction, without requiring an Ethereum hard fork. No investment, grant or transaction amount was disclosed in connection with the release.
