Cathay United Brings Coatue Tech Strategy to Kaohsiung Hub
Taiwan launched the Kaohsiung zone of its Asian Asset Management Center in July 2025, seeking to bring offshore-style wealth products and capital back to the island. By June 2026, 21 domestic banks had entered the zone. The initiative is significant for wealthy clients because it widens access to alternative assets and strategies spanning public and private markets that were previously more commonly offered through overseas private banks.
Cathay United Bank said on June 23, 2026, it had introduced a Coatue Management cross-market technology investment strategy exclusively for clients in the Kaohsiung zone. New York-based Coatue, founded in 1999, manages more than $67 billion. The strategy targets artificial intelligence, semiconductors and cloud computing, with exposure to companies including OpenAI, Anthropic and Stripe. It accepts subscriptions monthly and offers quarterly liquidity, while targeting investors with medium-to-high risk tolerance and long-term capital-growth objectives.
