Visa, Airwallex Build Embedded Finance for Freight Platforms

Digital freight forwarders and logistics marketplaces have modernized how goods are booked and moved, but payments remain fragmented and heavily manual. Shipping invoices take an average of 42 days to be paid, while document processing and administration account for nearly 20% of transportation costs. That lag ties up working capital and adds foreign-exchange and settlement friction, making embedded finance an increasingly important layer of infrastructure for cross-border trade.

Visa and Airwallex said on July 23, 2026, they would expand their existing relationship to build embedded-finance products for freight and shipping platforms. Visa will contribute commercial-payments expertise, acceptance strategy, risk management and industry-specific product design, while Airwallex will provide global platform technology and multi-currency capabilities. The tools are intended to streamline payments, improve working-capital management and facilitate cross-border fund flows. The companies disclosed neither an investment amount nor a launch timetable.
