Samsung Electro-Mechanics Lands Record $780 Million AI Server MLCC Deal

1 reports · First detected 2026-09-02 · Last active 2026-09-02

Multilayer ceramic capacitors, or MLCCs, are essential passive components used to manage power and maintain signal stability in servers. Demand for higher-performance parts is accelerating as generative AI drives investment in computing infrastructure. An AI server can require as many as 10 times the number of MLCCs used in a conventional server, making the segment an increasingly important growth market for component suppliers.

As of Sept. 2, 2026, Samsung Electro-Mechanics said it had signed a long-term MLCC supply agreement worth about $780 million with an unidentified international customer. The contract is the largest single order in the company’s history. Industry forecasts call for rapid expansion in AI-server-related demand through 2030, though the company has not disclosed the customer, contract duration or shipment schedule.
