OpenAI Acquires Silicon Valley Tech Show TBPN in Media Push
TBPN, or Technology Business Programming Network, is a daily livestreamed technology and business talk show hosted by John Coogan and Jordi Hays that has rapidly gained popularity in Silicon Valley’s startup community. OpenAI’s first acquisition of a media asset signals that it intends not only to develop AGI but also to participate directly in shaping public discourse, putting the potential impact of ownership on the show’s objectivity in focus.
OpenAI announced on April 2, 2026, that it had completed its acquisition of TBPN. Financial terms were not disclosed. TBPN will join OpenAI’s strategy division and report to Chief Global Affairs Officer Chris Lehane. The company said the show would retain control over programming, guest selection and editorial decisions, but ownership of a technology-industry news program by a technology company has still raised concerns about editorial independence.
