Taiwan Cybersecurity Conference 2026: AI Cuts Attack Times to Minutes, Raising Governance Urgency

Generative AI is lowering the barriers to malware development and accelerating cyberattacks from manual operations to “machine speed.” Palo Alto Networks told the Taiwan Cybersecurity Conference 2026 that companies still reliant on traditional alerts and manual responses will struggle to contain ransomware before it spreads, making cybersecurity governance and cross-cloud risk management increasingly critical.

Palo Alto Networks experts at the conference said generative AI has cut ransomware development time to about 15 minutes, bringing attack and defense response cycles down to minutes. Companies should accelerate threat detection, improve visibility into cloud assets and deploy AI-powered automated defenses. They should also assess their encryption systems in advance to address the risk that quantum computing could break them.
