Micron Sees AI and Robotics Fueling Memory Demand Surge
Micron Technology is one of the world's leading suppliers of DRAM and NAND memory. As generative AI expands beyond data centers into AI agents and humanoid robots, devices will need to process large volumes of sensor, inference and motion data in real time. Memory capacity and bandwidth requirements will become important indicators for industry expansion and supply-chain planning.
Micron's latest forecast says a single humanoid robot could require 10 times as much memory as an L2+ autonomous vehicle. A new demand cycle driven by physical AI is expected to unfold from 2026 to 2030. The company also expects tight DRAM and NAND supply-demand conditions could persist beyond 2027, although related reports did not disclose any additional investment amount.
