Perplexity Adopts Nvidia’s New CPU as Call Buying Lifts Shares Against the Trend
Nvidia has long dominated the AI accelerator market, and its Vera CPU is a key part of its push into general-purpose computing and AI agent workloads. Perplexity’s adoption of Vera signals customer confidence in Nvidia’s hardware-software integration and could help determine whether the company can establish a new growth engine beyond GPUs. The value of the partnership has not been disclosed.
As of July 20, 2026, Perplexity said Vera could run AI agent coding tasks at 1.5 times the speed. Nvidia shares reversed an earlier loss to trade higher despite reports that DeepSeek was developing an in-house chip. Options activity was also bullish, with call volume exceeding put volume by more than two to one, reflecting speculative bets on further gains.
