GLN, Coocon Add 500,000 Korean Merchants to Cross-Border QR Network
GLN International, a cross-border payment platform owned by Hana Bank, connects digital wallets with QR payment networks in overseas markets. Coocon provides financial-technology and payment infrastructure in South Korea. Their partnership is significant because it allows international visitors to pay through supported home-market wallets, reducing friction at checkout while giving Korean merchants broader access to tourism spending without requiring travelers to adopt a separate local payment app.
GLN said on Aug. 11, 2026, that its agreement with Coocon will add 500,000 affiliated merchants to its international QR payment acceptance network in South Korea. The expansion also extends coverage to Busan and Jeju Island, broadening the service beyond its existing footprint and strengthening nationwide availability in major tourism markets. The companies did not disclose the value of the agreement, merchant fees or a detailed rollout timetable.
