Singapore Pledges S$220 Million to Boost Fintech Innovation
Singapore has built one of Asia’s leading fintech hubs, with more than 1,800 firms employing nearly 10,000 people across technology, data, artificial intelligence, compliance and cybersecurity. Fintech investment in the city-state reached S$2.9 billion in 2025. The renewed Financial Sector Technology and Innovation Scheme is intended to sustain that position by supporting advanced technology, shared infrastructure and talent as private funding conditions become more challenging.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore announced FSTI 4.0 on Aug. 31, 2026, committing S$220 million, or about US$173 million, over three years, up from S$150 million under FSTI 3.0 in 2023. Six funding tracks will cover institutional projects, AI adoption, infrastructure and platforms, centres of excellence, manpower and industry awards. Eligible technologies include AI, distributed ledger technology and quantum computing, while MAS aims to support at least 1,000 internships.
