Its acquisition of Siiibo Securities, which holds a Type I Financial Instruments Business license in Japan and operates an online corporate bond platform, marks its expansion from a Bitcoin treasury company into the regulated issuance and distribution of financial products.

Metaplanet signed an agreement on June 12, 2026, to acquire all shares in Siiibo Securities for 2.1 billion yen in cash and completed the transaction on July 13. It expects to make the company a wholly owned subsidiary and rename it Metaplanet Securities by the end of August. The new platform plans to offer Bitcoin-backed yield products, security tokens and stablecoin payments, with access if needed to a $500 million Bitcoin-backed credit facility.

Metaplanet Forms Subsidiaries and Invests in JPYC to Build Japan’s Bitcoin Financial Infrastructure2026-03-12 · 3 reports · similarity 0.82

Metaplanet, which transformed itself in 2024 into a listed company with Bitcoin as its core reserve asset, is expanding its strategy beyond simply holding the cryptocurrency and into financial services. Japan is expected to reclassify Bitcoin as a regulated financial asset as early as January 2028, making lending, payments, custody and compliance infrastructure critical to institutional adoption.

On March 12, 2026, Metaplanet approved the creation of two wholly owned subsidiaries, Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management. Ventures plans to invest about 4 billion yen over two to three years, starting with an investment of up to 400 million yen in yen-stablecoin issuer JPYC in April. Metaplanet Asset Management will be based in Miami and focus on Bitcoin asset management.
