Small Businesses Want Bank AI but Remain Wary of Risks
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how small businesses obtain advice and specialist support. A survey by payments provider Stax found that eight in 10 small businesses already use AI to replace at least some work previously handled by consultants or experts. That shift is raising expectations for banks to embed AI into business services, potentially helping customers cut costs, make faster decisions and receive more tailored financial support.
The latest Stax findings also expose a trust gap that could limit adoption. Small businesses are open to AI-powered banking tools, but become more cautious when confidential information or sensitive tasks are involved. Accuracy, regulatory compliance and clear accountability remain central concerns. Banks seeking to meet demand will therefore need more than capable models: they must provide transparent controls, human review and defined responsibility when automated systems produce errors.
