Citi to Unveil Multiyear Transformation Blueprint at Investor Day

2 reports · First detected 2026-05-07 · Last active 2026-05-08

Citigroup has undergone a sweeping restructuring since CEO Jane Fraser took office in 2021, exiting several overseas consumer-banking markets and focusing on Services, Markets, Banking, Wealth and U.S. consumer credit cards. Its first companywide investor day since 2022 is intended to show that organizational simplification and investments in risk controls can translate into sustained profitability.

Citi announced on May 7, 2026, that it was targeting an adjusted return on tangible common equity, excluding special items, of 11%–13% in 2027 and 2028, rising to 14%–15% from 2029 through 2031. It also launched a $30 billion share-buyback program and plans to invest a cumulative $5 billion in its core businesses in the near term.
