Alipay+ Connects to Philippines’ QR Ph Network
QR Ph is the Philippines’ national interoperable QR payment standard, overseen by Philippine Payments Management Inc. under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ retail-payment framework. Linking it with Ant International’s Alipay+ extends infrastructure already used by Philippine banks and e-wallets to inbound cross-border payments, giving local merchants — particularly micro, small and medium-sized businesses reliant on tourism — access to overseas customers without installing separate acceptance systems.
PPMI and Ant International said on Sept. 1, 2026, that Alipay+ had gone live on QR Ph. Eligible international visitors can scan merchants’ existing QR Ph codes with supported home-market e-wallets or banking apps, while merchants can receive those payments through their current setup. Digital payments accounted for 64.69% of Philippine retail transaction volume in 2025, when QR Ph transactions increased more than thirteenfold. Alipay+ says its broader network connects more than 2 billion consumer accounts and over 50 payment providers across more than 220 markets.
