Perplexity AI Launches Autonomous AI Product Computer in Automation Push

Best known for AI search and Deep Research, Perplexity is positioning Computer as a digital worker that delivers finished results rather than merely answering questions. It can break down objectives and coordinate asynchronous subagents across research, design, coding, deployment and project management. The launch underscores how competition in AI agents is shifting from the capabilities of individual models to the orchestration of multiple models, tools and workflows.

Perplexity launched Computer on February 26, 2026, initially making the web version available to Max subscribers paying $200 a month. It can coordinate 19 models in parallel and includes 10,000 credits a month, plus a one-time bonus of 20,000 credits. On February 25, a user demonstrated an NVIDIA analytics terminal built in one afternoon, prompting discussion about whether it could replace the Bloomberg Terminal, which costs $30,000 a year. Its real-time data capabilities, however, remain less comprehensive.

Perplexity AI has launched Perplexity Computer, a system built to orchestrate different models and tools according to the task rather than train a single, maximally large model. It can autonomously break down assignments, retain persistent memory and continuously perform research, design and programming work in the cloud.
