Singapore is accelerating efforts to become a regional artificial intelligence and cloud computing hub, with computing capacity, data centers and workforce development serving as critical foundations. Microsoft’s expanded local investment responds to corporate demand for AI adoption and could also shape Singapore’s position in Southeast Asia’s competition for digital-economy leadership and technology talent.

Microsoft said it would invest $5.5 billion in Singapore from 2025 to 2029 to expand cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Through its Microsoft Elevate program, the company will also provide free AI tools and training to more than 200,000 local university students and educators, strengthening practical skills and AI literacy.
