Embedded Payments and Digital Wallets Help Travel Platforms Boost Revenue
Travel platforms are turning checkout pages from the end of the payment journey into a new source of revenue. PYMNTS Intelligence and Marqeta said embedding payments, digital wallets, installment options and loyalty rewards into booking flows can reduce redirects and cart abandonment while giving operators access to traveler spending data. These capabilities have therefore become core infrastructure for improving conversion rates and competitiveness.
The study surveyed 30 U.S. travel companies in July 2025. PYMNTS published its report on March 13, 2026, and updated the analysis on April 30. The data showed that 93% of operators offered at least one embedded finance feature and more than 75% had digital wallets. Meanwhile, 57% reported higher checkout completion rates, while 70% of those offering wallets said efficiency had improved and customer attrition had declined. The study did not disclose actual revenue figures.
