Rabobank Commits €2 Billion to AI and IT Over Three Years
Rabobank, the Dutch cooperative lender, is expanding its use of artificial intelligence across customer service, risk assessment and fraud detection. Scaling those tools in banking requires more than new models: lenders must modernize core technology, consolidate data and maintain strict controls over privacy, cybersecurity and regulatory compliance. The planned infrastructure overhaul is therefore central to Rabobank’s effort to improve efficiency and meet changing customer expectations while deploying AI responsibly across the group.
Rabobank said on Aug. 4, 2026, that it would invest €2 billion over three years in technology, data platforms and AI capabilities. The commitment, announced alongside its first-half results, is intended to create the IT framework needed for a broader rollout of AI-enabled services and working methods. The bank reported net profit of about €2.69 billion for the six-month period, broadly unchanged from a year earlier, underscoring its decision to prioritize long-term technology spending despite limited earnings growth.
