F2Pool Co-Founder Chun Wang to Join Crewed SpaceX Mars Flyby Mission
Founded in 2013, F2Pool is one of the world’s earliest Bitcoin mining pools. Co-founder Chun Wang has long been involved in private spaceflight. He financed and commanded SpaceX’s Fram2 mission, leading a four-person crew on the first human flight in polar orbit in April 2025. His shift toward Mars signals deeper investment by crypto wealth in commercial crewed deep-space exploration.
SpaceX announced on May 21, 2026, that Wang will command Starship’s first crewed interplanetary mission. He has purchased a seat, but neither side disclosed the price. The roughly two-year journey is expected to leave the Earth-Moon system, make a close flyby of Mars and return to Earth. The launch date, remaining crew members and flyby altitude have yet to be announced.
