Crypto Market Matures as Integration With Traditional Finance Accelerates
Crypto assets trade around the clock across multiple platforms with inconsistent pricing and quality standards, making it difficult for asset managers, pension funds and endowments to assess fair value and risk. Index Industry Association CEO Kirsten Wegner said indexes with transparent rules, independent governance and mechanisms to screen out anomalies can provide trusted benchmarks for ETFs and derivatives, forming critical infrastructure for institutional investment.
CoinDesk published Wegner’s market analysis on June 17, 2026. Dave LaValle, president of CoinDesk Data & Indices, separately noted that Morgan Stanley launched a Bitcoin ETF in early April and that its assets had exceeded $230 million after more than a month. Ethereum staking yields of about 3%, Solana yields of more than 5%, and the move toward tokenizing the roughly $200 trillion global equity market all point to accelerating integration between TradFi and crypto markets.
