Starcloud Raises $250 Million to Expand Orbital AI Data Centers
Starcloud is developing satellites designed to run artificial-intelligence inference in orbit, aiming to move some computing workloads beyond terrestrial data centers. The approach could ease constraints involving power, land and cooling, but its economics depend heavily on frequent, affordable launches. Access to launch capacity is therefore a critical issue as the company seeks to turn orbital computing infrastructure into a commercial business.
Starcloud said in August 2026 it raised $250 million at a $2.3 billion valuation. The company plans to use the proceeds to expand manufacturing facilities and advance its Starcloud-3 space data center program. With launch availability tightening and SpaceX’s Falcon 9 expected eventually to retire, Starcloud is seeking follow-on launch agreements involving vehicles including SpaceX’s Starship.
