Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase Join Swift Payments Framework

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-12 · Last active 2026-08-12

Swift’s global messaging network remains central to correspondent banking, but retail cross-border transfers can still carry unpredictable charges, deductions and delays in the final leg. Its new framework is designed to give consumers and small businesses upfront fixed fees, full-value delivery, end-to-end tracking and near-instant settlement where local infrastructure permits, helping banks counter non-bank payment providers using stablecoins to offer cheaper, always-on international transfers.

Swift detailed the rollout on March 5, 2026, with Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and nearly 60 banks in the initial group. More than 25 institutions were scheduled to begin processing payments by the end of June across corridors serving 11 markets, including the United States, Britain and India. The framework targets high-volume, low-value transfers; Swift has not disclosed a standard per-transaction fee, saying charges will be affordable and fixed upfront.

Swift to Launch Cross-Border Retail Payments Framework in June2026-04-18 · 3 reports · similarity 0.83

Swift is a critical part of the global banking infrastructure for cross-border payment messaging, but consumers and small and medium-sized businesses have long faced inconsistent delivery times and opaque fees on low-value international transactions. By establishing common operating standards, the new framework will allow banks to offer faster, more predictable and lower-cost retail payment services.

Swift said its new cross-border retail payments framework will go live in June 2026, with more than 25 banks in the initial rollout across 11 countries, including the United States, China and the United Kingdom. Participating banks are targeting June for the formal launch, with a focus on accelerating low-value transactions and improving transparency around fees and delivery times.
