Revolut Names Vasiliou to Lead European Digital Assets Unit

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-14 · Last active 2026-08-14

Revolut Digital Assets Europe is the fintech group’s Cyprus-based entity responsible for its crypto offering across the European Economic Area. Founding CEO Costas Michael built the unit and led it to Cyprus’ first Crypto Asset Service Provider licence and later a licence under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework. The leadership change matters as the bloc tightens oversight following the end of its MiCA transition period in July 2026, putting compliance and risk controls at the center of Revolut’s regional expansion.

Revolut named former Trading.com chief executive Georgios Vasiliou to lead the Cyprus unit on Aug. 14, 2026. Michael had stepped down about two months earlier but publicly confirmed the move on LinkedIn on Aug. 13; he will remain an adviser to the entity’s board. Vasiliou spent 12 years within XM’s group, including seven years at XM and five at Trading.com, where he served as chief risk officer before becoming CEO. Revolut disclosed no financial terms for the executive appointment.
