Hong Kong Overtakes Switzerland as Top Offshore Wealth Hub
Offshore wealth centers manage assets booked outside clients’ home jurisdictions, making their rankings a measure of cross-border capital appeal and financial-service depth. Hong Kong’s rise past Switzerland, the industry’s longstanding leader, marks a shift in the global wealth map toward Asia and strengthens the city’s position in private banking, investment products and cross-border financial services.
Hong Kong held $2.95 trillion in offshore wealth in 2025, overtaking Switzerland for the first time to become the world’s largest offshore wealth management center, according to Boston Consulting Group’s 2026 Global Wealth Report. BCG also said artificial intelligence is reshaping the industry’s economics, while uneven progress in digital transformation is widening the performance gap between wealth managers.
