WordPress.com Adds MCP Write Support for AI-Powered Content Management
WordPress.com is Automattic’s website-building and content management platform. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, allows AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to connect to external services. With write access enabled, AI agents can help maintain content rather than merely read site data, making permission controls and user confirmation mechanisms particularly important.
In July 2026, WordPress.com expanded its MCP support by integrating two tools: Content Authoring and Site Editor Context. AI agents can create, update or delete posts and pages in response to natural-language instructions, but users must confirm the actions before they are executed. The update involved no transaction value and focused on bringing these three types of content operations into AI workflows.
