Three Formosa Plastics Supertankers Due Back in Taiwan in Early May, With Stable Oil Supplies Potentially Benefiting Crypto Markets
Formosa Plastics Marine transports crude oil for Formosa Plastics Group, and the return of its supertankers can replenish stocks at the Mailiao refining complex, which is vital to Taiwan’s petrochemical supply. If tensions in the Middle East ease and global oil prices stabilize, inflationary pressure could decline and the likelihood of interest-rate cuts by the U.S. Federal Reserve could rise. Looser financial conditions could also support risk assets such as Bitcoin.
Formosa Plastics Marine’s Chong Shan, Ya Shan and Jun Shan are expected to arrive in Mailiao, Taiwan, in succession within two weeks in early May, potentially replenishing supplies by several million barrels of crude oil. The Jun Shan alone is carrying about 2 million barrels. The shipments will help stabilize Formosa Plastics’ inventories, but oil prices, Fed policy and crypto-market performance will still depend on developments in the Middle East and subsequent inflation data.
