MoonPay Acquires Rhythm to Deepen Onchain Trading Push
Founded in 2019, MoonPay has expanded beyond fiat-to-crypto payments into trading, stablecoins and onchain infrastructure, serving more than 30 million customers across 180 countries. Rhythm addresses a fragmented trading workflow by combining market signals, asset discovery, automation, execution and risk management in one product. The acquisition moves MoonPay closer to controlling more of the digital-asset transaction lifecycle.
MoonPay said on Aug. 28, 2026, that it acquired Rhythm, without disclosing the purchase price or payment terms. Rhythm’s technology and all three co-founders — Joseph Murphy, James Miller and Lincoln Barnett III — are joining MoonPay. Rhythm became the first company backed by MoonPay Labs on Aug. 26, 2025, and the takeover marks the latest step in MoonPay’s two-year strategic acquisition campaign.
