Wispr Raises $280 Million at $2 Billion Valuation, Unveils Canto
Founded by Stanford alumni Tanay Kothari and Sahaj Garg, Wispr built Wispr Flow as an AI dictation tool that turns natural speech into polished text across apps. The company is now moving beyond transcription into a broader voice interface spanning meeting notes, workflow actions and hardware. That expansion matters as voice startups compete to become a default input layer for computing rather than a niche productivity utility, aided by advances in speech recognition and language models.
On Aug. 17, 2026, Wispr said it raised $280 million in a Series B led by Menlo Ventures at a $2 billion post-money valuation. The financing brings total capital raised to $361 million. Wispr plans to use the proceeds to expand globally, deepen hardware partnerships and add products including meeting notes. It also introduced Canto, its next-generation voice-understanding model, which the company says will sharply reduce errors as it broadens Flow from dictation into a more comprehensive voice platform.
