Adobe Launches Firefly AI Assistant With Third-Party Model Integrations

2 reports · First detected 2026-04-16 · Last active 2026-04-17

Adobe has used Firefly to connect generative AI features across Creative Cloud, but creators previously still had to switch among applications such as Photoshop and Premiere. Firefly AI Assistant instead uses natural language to understand the desired result and orchestrates multiple tools across consecutive steps, reflecting Adobe’s shift from one-off AI content generation toward end-to-end workflow automation.

Adobe opened Firefly AI Assistant to public beta on April 27, 2026, and expanded it to Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign and Frame.io on June 18. Firefly also offers more than 30 models from Adobe and partners including Google and Runway, while extending Adobe tools to Anthropic’s Claude. Adobe did not announce separate pricing for the new features.

Adobe’s Firefly is a family of generative AI models designed for businesses and creators, with a focus on image and video production. At GTC 2026, Adobe formed a strategic alliance with NVIDIA to strengthen model development using CUDA-X software and accelerated computing resources, addressing businesses’ need to produce marketing materials at scale more efficiently and cost-effectively.

The companies announced at GTC 2026 that they would jointly develop next-generation Firefly foundation models and launch a 3D digital-twin solution powered by NVIDIA Omniverse, allowing businesses to simulate products, environments and creative workflows. Adobe and NVIDIA have yet to disclose the investment amount, the models’ official launch date or the expected level of cost savings.
