Humanoid Robot Supply Chain Creates Cross-Industry Opportunities for Auto Parts Makers

Humanoid robot actuators, speed reducers, bearings, sensors and power semiconductors overlap extensively with technologies used in automotive transmissions, chassis and driver-assistance systems, giving automotive suppliers an advantage in expanding into the sector. Precision speed reducers are particularly critical. Japan’s Nabtesco and Harmonic Drive Systems hold global market shares of about 60% and 85%, respectively, making the segment a key battleground for new suppliers.

A June 29, 2026, report said Germany’s Schaeffler was working with about 45 robotics companies and had signed five formal customer contracts. It aims to capture a 10% share of addressable material costs by 2030, with orders potentially reaching hundreds of millions of euros. Infineon deepened its collaboration involving NVIDIA Jetson Thor in August 2025. Schaeffler’s target assumes global annual humanoid robot production will reach at least 1 million units by 2030, although the business still accounted for less than 1% of its revenue in 2025.
