3 reports · First detected 2026-06-30 · Last active 2026-07-01

MetaMask, developed by Consensys, has primarily been used to hold and trade crypto assets. Its Money Account is built around mUSD, which is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar, and combines DeFi yield with card spending in a self-custodial structure. The product is designed to turn stablecoins from a medium of exchange into everyday funds that can also earn returns.

MetaMask launched Money Account on June 30, 2026, deploying it on Monad. Users can deposit assets including USDC, USDT and DAI and convert them into mUSD without fees, earning an annual percentage yield of up to about 4%. Funds accrue interest daily with no lockup period and can be spent through MetaMask Card at hundreds of millions of Mastercard merchants worldwide.

MetaMask Crypto Debit Card Ends Pilot, Formally Launches Across US2026-02-26 · 4 reports · similarity 0.81

The MetaMask Card, developed through a partnership between Consensys-owned MetaMask and Mastercard, allows users to retain custody of their crypto assets until a purchase, when the assets are converted into fiat currency. The U.S. pilot was announced at ETHDenver in 2025. It focused on connecting self-custody wallets to traditional card networks and lowering the barriers to using cryptocurrency for everyday purchases.

Consensys announced on February 26, 2026, that it had concluded the year-long pilot and formally expanded the MetaMask Card across the United States, including its first launch in New York state. The card can be used at more than 150 million Mastercard merchants worldwide and through Apple Pay and Google Pay. The standard card offers up to 1% back in mUSD, while the metal card, which carries a $199 annual fee, offers up to 3% back on the first $10,000 in annual spending.
